Whoa, we are slightly vearing off topic right now, and since with politics everyone has their opinion and no one person is wrong, let's reign it in and head back on topic.
In my personal opinion, Kerry showed himself to be the 'most presidential' looking between the two candidates during the debate. But that was because Bush likes to come off as an average joe (despite being far from the truth).
Did either candidate have disrespect for each other? Not that I can truly say. In fact, Kerry did a very nice thing where in that last half hour, when Kerry was on the subject of North Korea and Jim Lehrer asked the president to rebuttal Kerry's opinion on Korea, Bush began speaking about Iraq instead. It was as if he lost the whole thread of the conversation. Now maybe there was a segue that I missed, and we all need to go back and read a transcript of the debate, but what I do know is, Kerry did not point this out but went along with the Presidents tangent.
And as for the UN, when the US isn't involved in a world body, we get something like the League of Nations, and because it did not have US support it could do nothing agains the rise of totalitarian dictatorships in Europe. |

Maybe it's because I've studied the great leaders of civilization. Maybe it's the that I've study anceint war tactics and many other works on power and policy. But you people are dead wrong about Kerry.
While Kerry does seem more 'presidential', I don't want him running my war. He talks well, but that's not all there is too being president. I dislike Kerry's ideas on foriegn policy for many reasons. Kerry wants a global America, I don't. Kerry want America to 'lead the world' I don't. I want the rest of the world to run itself, much like the Republican way of running the country itself.
What Bush did with the war on terror was two fold. By pushing into Iraq he broght the war to a central location. While it is not Afgahnastan, it's a middle eastern country that was easily invaded and rebuilt. Iraq in later months will become a great staging platform for further inserection into farther eastern countries to weed out terrorists.
2 he shot one in the air and saw who jumped out the window. When all those tied to terrorists. He's not only pulled the the war to us, he's made all the players come out of the shadows.
Korea, weapons of mass destruction, foriegn policy. Bi-lateral talks won't work in Korea, this is true. Based on past experiances with America, do you believe that Korea will listen to just us. Nope. But with the Chinese the Koreans will begin to give in. The Korean and Chineses history is tightly linked so the Chinese are more likely to listen to them. Another power move, if you can't get the work done yourself, get the best person for the job.
Now on Mr. Bush's actual speaking. I understand that you are only give a certain amount of time to answer in a debate. But did you notice that Kerry always had an answer without thinking. That worries me. It may be because he's that much smarter than Bush, but I bet it's because Kerry studied for every possible angle. Bush works off his instinct, answers as the question is asked. That shows usuable intelligence, not just read intelligence. By a debate standard ya Kerry won, as far as a 'get your point across' stand point, a personal stand point, and a leader's stand point...Bush pounded Kerry like a Salvation Army drum.
Kerry can't be our leader, he won't, and Bush will lead us through another 4 years of war, a just war, a war that is needed, and I'll see ya over there. |

That was the blanket topic for the debate so that would explain the lack of other issues on the docet. Look for those other topics the 8th and 13th of this month. If you missed the debate or the dates of the next two they are on cspan.com |

The 8th is supposed to be Domestic Issues.
The one on the 13th will be in Arizona...Sooo if Kerry's car doesn't get bombed I'd be surprised. |

-I'm erasing my half hour's argument to ask a mod to please lock my topic. A few members here, as well as myself, clearly have differing political views and I can't help feeling that talking about this topic further will result in ill feelings both from and towards each side. I would ask the people who supported me, as well as opposed me, to agree to disagree. It was a wonderful argument on both sides but I figure we can find better things to do with our time on PO. |

Poop it was just getting good. I would also hope that everyone here understands while we disagree on these things we don't hold it personally against anyone. Rev and Reaper and Gaaz and I have completely different views on politics, we've even gotten into some good heated debates, but I still like everyone here. As long as everyone understands that this is just a difference of opinions and we all have the right to voice those opinions we'll be okay. |
