As an FF nut, I have naturally been following the hype surrounding Advent Children and it's mobile counterpart, Before Crisis, as I'm sure all of you Square loyalists have been. But how many of you knew that Vincent is getting his own game?

Yes, that's right. Everyone's favorite ex-Turk shapeshifter is going to be the lead character in the upcoming PS2 sequel to FFVII, Dirge of Cerberus. Info and more linkage can be found here. It's scheduled to be released sometime in 2005, and is set approximately one year after the events of Advent Children. While Square is keeping any other details close to the vest, what is known is that the plot does connect to Advent Children, and will feature Vincent going head-to-head with a group known only as the DC.

Now, for my opinion: while frankly this sounds cool as hell, I kinda wish Square would remember their other game series. FFVII isn't the ONLY profitable product they've ever had, and personally I'd rather see them finish Chrono Break than this. But still, it looks to be kickass.

agreed. I would rather see Chrono Break but I'm sure Vincent May Cry will be fun.

Great. Another FFVII game. Why can't we leave at FFVII? I mean, damn. FFVII was a great game, but do we need a Lucas-eqsue string of revisions and incomprehensible timelines? I mean, Vincent was on the Turks, he died, and they revived him in the Jenova experiments. Can we just leave well enough alone?!

Looking at the screens, I agree that it is akin to DMC, meaning I will probably end up playing this, but I can feel a certain sort of contempt with Square Enix for perpetuating FFVII. If they really went all out with their other games, instead of positioning them to fall in line behind VII, then they might not be wasting money on these things. Hence, they might still be Square.

If they are in the business of reviving aged games with alternate timelines or stories, why don't they do something with Parasite Eve, or Vagrant Story? I mean what happened to the awesome PS1 games that weren't FFVII? Let's graphically upgrade those games and bring those to a new audience, instead of rehashing the argueable "best RPG ever". Geez, VI was better, hands down.

Sorry about that. That was sort of a rant.

7 as a whole is overrated. 90% of the people I know who like it, like it because they were young when it came out and it was their first RPG.

I hate FF7, but I keep coming back to it. It's like a bad habit I can't seem to kick.

I still say Chrono Chross was the best Square game for the Playstation, and that 8 was the best FF game. *waits to be flamed*

Chrono Cross was awesome. 8 gets flamed more then it deserves to be flamed for. It was alright but not as bad as people think. I liked 6 the best out of the MAIN series FF games. I like alot of the spinoff FF games like FF tactics, Chocobo Racing and the other weird games.
