Agreed. FF Tactics is probably Square's best game ever, but it can't hold a candle to Disgaea. but then if Tactics hadn't been made Disgaea would never have existed, so eh. Precendents and all that.
as far as FF8 goes, I liked it because it was a breath of fresh air for the FF series. For the first time since 1, the series was new and different, and the plot rocked. I guess you could say I liked it because it was so linear, which is the gripe most FF fans have with it. |

Brave Fencer Musashi was an awesome game. Noted that most every game Square made was awesome in some right, (Chocobo Racing, and all those sort of strange one time games), but I feel like that perpetuate Final Fantasy, because they really have to. It's the game that kept them alive as a company and it's the game that will continue to allow them to create more and more sleeper hits. Let's leave the old games lie, so that we can't ruin them, and let's just move in a different mental direction. Maybe if we stop buying these spin-offs and re-hashings, in sort of an effort to see more creativity from the game companies, these sort of off-shoots, will cease to exist as a majority of the games today. |

See, I don't see it as rehashing, I see it as a new volume of the same series. I wouldn't consider Lestat a spinoff of Interview, and I'm anxious to see what they do with the ff7 storyline.

Yeah. I am wondering how they'll do this as well, but I think it would be more worthwhile if they just through a new character or a more creative story basis than just "what happened in FFVII, plus this!". That seems more worth the time. |
