Yeah, Washington's a nice place to have good, accpeting people in. I have two good friends who went out that way that are both gay and they're doing fine out there on that sort of issue.
Where I am at university is also really good about that sort of thing (we just had a well-respected professor come out just this past week, and I don't think there will be much more than praise for his decision there), at home (the place where this specific post is coming from), the attitude is quite a bit more conservative. The family that my Washington friend came from was staunchly Baptist, and well, yeah. Slight (about 50km) incompatibility there.
So persevere and know that there are more accepting people out there. Besides, you might find out that there's more there than you think, and you can be all subversive-like and everything. |

I've never understood the whole homophobia thing. It seems like if a person is secure in their sexuality it wouldn't make them uncomfortable to see two people of the same sex showing affection. Which leads me to believe that most people who are homophobic are that way because they are unsure of themselve's which is more there problem then the people they take it out on  |

Yup! We also have a fairly large gay/alternative community here, so it's no big to be gay. I also agree with Shinigame that people who get freaked out by differing sextualities really just need to take a good long look at their own life, because if you're obsessing over someone else's decisions you need to take a huge chill pill.
