The number one person who could help you in this case is Gaaz. He has made to move to the ATL a successful one and can tell you how he did it. The good thing about being here is that there is a supportive group of folks who could help safety net until things are up and running. There is no race to beat the clock, just start saving. Places like those in my complex are going for about $650/month and that's for a two bedroom/one bath central heating and air (aw you've seen it) and you only pay electric. (no gas/no water). So it's a pretty good deal.mine costs a little more too because I rent a washer/dryer combo that fits in the hall closet instead of hauling stuff down to the laundry rooms they have here.

Jobs are a little easier to find when you are phsyically down here but if you keep looking in places such as ajcjobs.com or http://atlanta.craigslist.org/ you can find lots of stuff you may need.It's good to research and definitely ask questions of those already living down here. For real! Even in Seattle, a two-bedroom would go for AT LEAST $750 and then you'd probably have to pay for utilities! Dang! Lucky gal!
Doot does have a good point, though. That is one nice plus. You got people on the recieving end to help you out, which is always a major bonus!

Well, I applied at Best Buy a night or two ago, and as soon as I have time, I'm gonna head up to the mall and do an app run, to try to find jobs from which I can transfer down to Atlanta. That really seems like the best way to go, from here. Other than that, just waiting...week by week. I have to keep reminding myself not to spend money >.<

Yeah. There are lots of apartments, but you have to know what you're looking for. They generally go for $500 and up for one-bedroom, less for studios, depending on where it is. But you'll probably want a 2-bedroom if you and Faye are gonna room together.
You will DEFINITELY need a car. Atlanta is the sprawl capital of the world. Everything's spread out. MARTA sucks big time; it's only useful when you're intown sometimes. Currently gas is running $1.85+ per gallon for regular unleaded. Sad

Also, give yourself lots of time to get places. Traffic sucks. GA-400 was closed by me all afternoon yesterday because of a nasty 5-car accident. I-285 is usually miserable. This is the only city I've ever missed a flight in because of traffic.
Living here is a bit expensive, but it's manageable. Definitely budget your money, and hit up thrift, secondhand, and salvage shops whenever you can.

Expensive? Gas is $2.00 a gallon average, here. Rents are around 800-900/mo. for a two-bedroom junkhouse. How much is a gallon of milk down there?

As for Doot's safety net it's great..No matter how big a dick I am she still likes me on some level...hehehe

But yeah..Try to get into the casa De Shino..He's a fair landlord and it's only like $500 a month with all utilities.

And don't even look for a job..It's not worth it..The best thing to do is go to a temp place and they'll match you to a job.

I did that, on the advice of Minah (shino's ex-arm candy) and today I'm somewhat happily employed and making enough money that gas prices don't phase me as much...Granted in AZ I was paying $2.50 a gallon about 6 months ago.

Failing the strain it is to live with an overbearing tyrant like Shino (Not really but I like to make fun of him) you can score a decent apartment somewhere around here and when you get a real job houses aren't too bad as long as you enjoy a 40 minute commute.

Milk is like $3.70 a gallon up here, on average. My point, mainly directed at Satine, is that GA is actually less expensive than where I live now. One of the reasons I want to move down there ^_^

GAAZ: Like I said, my plan for now is just to get a job up here with a store that has branches down there, and transfer when I have the money saved up.

Perhaps. I don't know where you live now. But GA is more expensive than where I used to live, but then again I moved down here 5 years ago. I don't know what NJ is like now.
And well damn, if it's less expensive then I don't see a reason why you shouldn't move here! Very Happy

Just remember than everything still adds up quickly. Food and gas are reasonable around here (so far!). But remember that you will spend A LOT on gas, because you will drive everywhere and spend lots of time sitting in traffic.
