Flood can be killed with other things as well. Assault rifle actually works well on them also, but mainly I just suck with the shotgun so have to use something else.

Actually for the flood you should use a plasma rifel/shot gun set up. the plasma is good for taking out all the little guys that chase you, and it can also drop the zombies pretty fast. And the shotty gets the zombies.
using this set up the flood will fall beneth your feet. I killed every thing I came across with little dificulty

As for the covanent I used the pistol/assualt riffel. oh and use plasma nads like mad cause you get them every where.

A good tip I can give you is to not wakeup up the little covanent baddies if they are sleeping. I know of many stages where you'll walk up on them asleep, simply quitely knock them out with getting noticed. This also goes for the elites as well, if they don't know you are behind them, don't let them know, simply walk carefully up behind them and knock them in the back of the head, and blam their dead. This is also usefully when there is camo armor available.

Another thing, is when it comes to the Hunters. Force them to stop useing thier plasma gun and make them try and hit you. Simply work them like a bull fighter. Master cheif is faster then what they are, insure that you guide it out into a more open spot so that you can't get cornered. When it lunges for you move to the side and around behind him, then his is fully open to your attack. I've done this countless times and have only been hit maybe once, and sometimes not at all. It's actually not that hard to do even when you have two attacking you at once. The other point is you can hit them in the back also doing this, I would not suggest it when fighting against two of them, but against one it's fun. Plus you have to remember to aim at the part of their back that is not armored, you know the bright orange spot.

Another thing is that many people don't think that the needler is a usefull weapon, but trust me it has it's good uses. Especailly against the Elites. Even more when it comes to the one's with the energe blades. If you don't have a sniper to take these guys out from a distance the next best thing is the needler. Make sure, ofcourse, you have a full clip and unload it on him from a distance, then, well, run. And hopefully and most likely he'll be dead before he gets to you.

Ok, the king of this game has emerged, I beat it legendary first then Heroc, normal and yes even easy.

HUNTERS: Let them charge you, move out of the way and get the back of them, aim at the skin, the bright oange spot and shoot. If you use a hand gun/sniper on the skin it drops them one hit. This works Easy-Legendary.

FLOOD: Ok, there is a few ways to kill these Aholes and I will do it in sections by types.Fatties are the short fat things that explode and release the little guys, I call the little dudes poplers.

ZOBIE: I suggest the use of a shotgun, plasma rifle or assualt rifle. I used assualt/Shotgun to whipe them out.

FATTIES: Lob a plasma gernade on one and shot him, when he explodes so does the gernade, thus killing the Poplers inside.

POPLERS: I used an assualt rifle/shotgun. The assualt rifle kills all the little guys fast because it is a scatter like shot and fast shot. Also if one dies next to another it will cause it to die as well. The shotgun is for the Zombies that are always with the Poplers.

ELITS: Hmm, use a shotgun for close range if you have it. Needler works well if you load them up and the hand gun is actually VERY good because of its armor piercing. Thoough when fighting these guys i like to use a plasma rifle because it slows them down if you just hold the trigger down on them.

JACKLES: Plasmarifle, plasmagun(the handgun), handgun, assualt rifle, or a shotgun is good. My suggestion is the plasmagun, I say this because if you charge it up and hit them, they loose the shield and you can load up on them. Also, if its an easy difficulty Easy-Normal, I say punch em if your close.

FASTER RELOAD: This is for the assualt gun only. when Master Chief slaps the clip half way in hit B and it will skip the useless crap.

ONE HIT KILLS(ELITS/GRUNTS/JACKLES: if you somehow get behinde one without it turning around just his B while you are close and you will break its back, no need to aim for its head.

Ok guys, I excel at this one. Well on some things.

TANKS: Don't you hate it when someone gets the tank and blows everyone away? Well here is a tip, grab a ghost and shoot those plasma bolts while you get close and don't forget to circle around him. By shooting him it will slow the tanks top down so where he can't get close enough to make you go BOOM and if he gets out, nail him. If your on foot, you better hope you have a rocket launcher or some plasma gernades. Throw those gernades on adn whatch him explode, the rocket launcher will be to slow far away so you will also need to get close(good luck not dying with that) and finally the sniper. If your a good shot get somewhere fare enough away and hidden and aim for the cocpit of the tank and try to get a head shot for a nice kill. If your in a Warthog(the Jeeps) then ram into the middle of the tank if you can't get away, this will noramally cause it to flip or you will just pop it up and go under it.
