Man, I gotta say this team kicks massive butt when it all comes down to it. I never really followed them before but I gotta say I'm super impressed with them.
First time in HOW MANY YEARS!

Cept the Yankees haven't won in 4 years...so you can't keep saying that they always win. Furthermore, Boston definitely wasn't the underdog going into this series. They have the second highest payroll in baseball, compared to the 11th place St. Louis Cardinals. |

So you are right about one thing, the saleries between the Cards and the Sox differ quite a bit. But it's pretty sad when the difference between the #2 highest salery and the #11 highest salery is less than the difference between the #1 salery and the #2 salery.

That's just sad!
Almost $60M difference.
The Yankees ARE the reason MLB needs a Salery Cap!

Blues: I hear ya. But I wanted ot make sure that a thread was specific to the Sox winning. I'm an old ball player (was the only girl in an all boy league at one point) so the love of the game is still there. I agree, the underdog winning is superb!
Yanks may win a lot of games but I sure as hell agree with Ming that I'm glad it wasn't the Braves...AGAIN! I'm tired of them beefing it all up during the season and then choking when it comes down to the real stuff. They seem to take good players and piss them off so they trade and leave behind that neanderthal Chipper Jones. ENOUGH OF HIM ALREADY! I'm also tired of hearing about all the whining about pay and the like. You get paid mass amounts of money to do the thing you love! Jackasses, get a clue! They should have a shot of reality. Hence why I get excited to see the Red Sox wins.
It's not glorified because "At least it's not the Yankees". It's glorified because they busted their asses to do it! They did something quite amazing in the land of baseball and they damn well deserve the accolades for really stepping it up a notch and not be praised because they weren't some other team.

Shino, you have a flaw in your info up there
The cardinals are actualy the second place holders of the most WS championships in Major League baseball. They have 9 WS wins.
Anywho, i have to say, it was quite a feat for the Sox to win 8 straight and not only prove history once, but twice in those 8 games. All i can say is that it was like seeing the '96 New York Yankees again...a team full of power hitters, power pitchers, and great defense.
I just hope Boston fans wont go terrorising now, like they usually do
