So hey I have this fancy scanner I bought used...the hardware works...but it gives me an error saying it could not initialize when I try to actually scan. What I need to do is actually get te error and post it here. I talked to HP online...so far no help. Anyone ever seen something like this?

Try uninstalling everything (scanner hardware and the scanner program), reboot your comp ..re installing it, then rebooting or restarting your comp. That –might- fix it. That’s what always fix's my minor scanner problems anyway. Hope it helps

HP has some of the worst customer service....~_~'' at least, that's always been my experience.

If you could post a screenshot of the error, or at least give a little bit more of a description, that would help tremendously.

Ok so I think I heard something reasonably intelligent from HP today. I re-installed the software. This time, the software loaded perfectly. I noticed when I turn on the scanner no sounds come from it. So HP seems to think that perhaps the power cord isn't supplying enough power....is that possible?

Yes, while unlikely.

Is it a standard power cord? If so, just get a new one and see if that fixes the problem. They're in the neighborhood of $2-3, so you're not going to be out of pocket too much.

If it's not standard, then HP should replace it with your warranty, free of charge. You may have to twist their hands behind their backs ~_~; but they'll do it. ^_^ (can you tell I am experienced at this? XD)
